Small Aircraft Investigations

Three Day Seminar

Course Description

A comprehensive course in the investigation and apprehension of smuggling groups utilizing small aircraft. A general overview is given of those clues that indicate an aircraft is being used for the transportation of controlled substances. Surveillance techniques to identify landing locations, supplies and support personnel will be studied. Investigative methods to obtain court orders for tracking devices, search warrants and working multi-jurisdictional cases are discussed. The safety issues in these interdiction situations are detailed and case studies presented.

Instructors

Robert B. Nestoroff is a Sergeant Investigator/Narcotics Service with the Texas Department of Public Safety. He has worked with DPS since 1981. Sgt. Nestoroff has specialized in investigating aircraft smuggling since 1977. He has initiated investigations that have resulted in the seizures of more than forty aircraft, over 20,000 pounds of marijuana, more than one ton of cocaine, and more than one million dollars in currency. As a result of these investigations, Sgt. Nestoroff received the Texas Narcotics Officer of the Year award in 1981, Regional Narcotics Officer of the Year award in 1987, and a Special Award of Honor from the International Narcotics Officers Association in 1988.
