Course Description

Undercover Surveillance & Officer Safety

This dynamic and fast moving class is structured into two parts. The first half of the class focuses on officer safety issues in the preparation of surveillance. This portion will cover the fundamentals of conducting fixed and mobile surveillance while maintaining uncompromised officer safety techniques.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

• Drawing of a firearm from a seated position
• Positioning of your firearm during surveillance
• Use of a back-up weapon

Undercover Operational Planning

The risk in undercover operations can be minimized with proper planning and risk mitigation. It is the responsibility of everyone involved in the operation to know their role. The second portion of the class will be an interactive discussion of ways to mitigate the dangers of undercover operations during the planning stage and examples of several operations that went bad and those that went well.

The seminar will include practical exercises in both areas of instruction.
